Our country was founded on the principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The belief that all men are created equal.

These principles were intended to be inclusive to every American so that we all might follow our dreams and pursue our goals. Our great nation was founded by men who understood that if we work together for the greater good we are stronger for it.

It seems like the founders and the Democratic Women of Lakeland, Florida have a lot in common.

The Democratic Women’s Club of Florida had its official beginning in 1956, although there had been individual Democratic women’s clubs in our state for many years. The organizational meeting for a state club took place on May 24, 1956, which was the day chosen by Eleanor Roosevelt as Democratic Women’s Day. The DWCFL, Inc. now consists of nine regions, representing over 50 clubs.

Our local chapter of the Democratic Women’s Club of Lakeland received its charter from the state organization in April of 2017.  Currently with 121 members strong, we have become recognized as a force for Democratic Women and Men in the Greater Lakeland community. Our meetings are informative with quality speakers centering on current local, state, and national issues.  Our outreach includes sponsoring a booth at community events such as First Friday, and Pride at the Park, as well as, Voter registration, walking in the Martin Luther King Parade, Tally Days at the Capitol, the DWCF State Convention and partnering with Polk County Democratic Executive committee on a variety of projects. Members are also involved in voter outreach, Democratic campaigns, supporting or opposing legislative activities through letters and calls, and other opportunities to support the Democratic agenda.
